If you’ve been missing The Traitors since the dramatic final, then we’ve got some news to cheer you up.
The US counterpart has been commissioned for a third season, and this is before the second season has even finished airing!
It’s unsurprising that Peacock has asked for more episodes as it’s been their most-watched unscripted original series of all time, and won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Casting for a Reality Program.
Fans have reacted positively to the announcement on Peacock’s Instagram page. Account Bravo by Katherine wrote ‘expected nothing less’ and Hannah Banan has high hopes for the next instalment: ‘The Traitors is probably the best show I’ve ever seen! This season’s cast was 10/10. Excited to see how y’all will top it!’
Some fans still wanted more – viewer Matt Marcello wrote: ‘Please do two a year!’
Claudia Winkleman hosts the UK version, but the US has Alan Cumming at the helm, who also clearly loves being part of the show and is loved for his witty quips.
While both shows are filmed in the Scottish Highlands, they have a major difference – the UK version puts ‘ordinary’ people into the castle, but the US has gone down a different route with the deceit and treachery being carried out by celebrities. The prize fund is supersized too with $250,000 up for grabs compared to our £120,000.
If you’re looking for a new show to binge then the first season is already on BBC iPlayer. The second, which features Love Island winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, MP John Bercow, and Big Brother star Dan Gheesling, is coming soon!
The reality show has a relatively simple concept, but the layers of deception and paranoia it creates make for excellent TV which has captivated audiences worldwide – the greatest drama couldn’t have given us a better moment than Mollie discovering the truth about winner Harry.
There are two teams, Traitors and Faithfuls. The Traitors must not be discovered to win, and the Faithfuls must try to discover who they are to win.
Each day every person votes for who should be banished in a round table, and the surviving Traitors get secretly murder players too.
The TV show which originally started in The Netherlands, now has editions in over 20 countries.
The Traitors is available to watch on BBC iPlayer. US viewers can watch here.
