The Masked Singer semi-final got off to a major bang when it was confirmed that two celebrities were to be revealed ahead of the final.
After last week’s emotional unveiling, it was down to Cricket, Bigfoot, Piranha, Air Fryer and Eiffel Tower to battle it out for a spot in the star-studded finale.
At many points throughout the night, the judging panel – made up of Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora, Lorraine Kelly, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan – were reduced to tears over the emotional performances.
Sadly for Air Fryer, they were voted out first and unveiled to be none other than Greatest Showman star Keala Settle.
Guesses included Ella Henderson, Whoopi Goldberg, Kimberly Wyatt, Jennifer Hudson and Rebel Wilson – which means everyone was widely wrong.
After being unmasked, the 48-year-old said: ‘There were so many close [guesses]. One of the guest judges you had, I actually knew…
‘It was a massive learning experience and it was a game changer for me.’
Keala – who has appeared in some huge Broadway shows including Priscilla, Les Miserables, Waitress – shared how comfortable she was while dressed up in the intricate outfit.
‘The difficulty wasn’t really physical,’ she insisted. ‘You have this facade that you’re used to performing, being that person.
‘When this is off? That’s off, this is what they’re looking for.’
Referring to her costume, she joked: ‘I have got an air fryer and I absolutely love it!’
Season five got off to an almighty bang as music legend Dionne Warwick was unveiled as Weather in the premiere, and quite rightly had our jaws on the floor.
This was followed up by Pointless host Alexander Armstrong taking off the Chicken Caesar costume in recent weeks.
Shirley Ballas was then unveiled as Rat, while Julia Sawalha emerged from a Bubble Tea outfit, to massive applause from the studio audience.
In wild scenes, Lorraine was unmasked as Owl before claiming a seat on the judging panel, giving us all a glimpse at her backstage expertise.
Last week, Melody Thornton and Nicky Campbell were unmasked as Maypole and Dippy Egg respectively.
This leaves Piranha, Eiffel Tower, Cricket and Bigfoot to fight it out for the remaining three slots in next week’s finale.
The Masked Singer continues on Saturday on ITV.
