Piers Morgan and Gary Lineker send messages of support to King Charles after cancer diagnosis

King Charles III has received public messages of support from stars including Piers Morgan and Gary Lineker after his cancer diagnosis.

Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles, 75, has cancer, which was discovered after his recent surgery for benign prostate enlargement.

Buckingham Palace said in the announcement: ‘The King has been diagnosed with a form of cancer and has begun a schedule of regular treatments, and while he has postponed public duties he “remains wholly positive about his treatment.”’

Following the announcement, broadcaster Gary wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that he was sorry to hear the news.

‘Really sorry to hear the news that King Charles has cancer. Awful news. Wish him a full and speedy recovery,’ the full message read.

Proud royalist Piers Morgan said: ‘Shocking news. I wish His Majesty a full and speedy recovery’, and shared plans to speak about it on his show TalkTV show Uncensored tonight.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has wished the King a ‘full and speedy recovery’ and said he will no doubt ‘be back to full strength in no time’.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has wished the King ‘all the very best for his recover’ after he was diagnosed with a form of cancer.

Sir Keir tweeted: ‘On behalf of the Labour Party, I wish His Majesty all the very best for his recovery.

‘We look forward to seeing him back to swift full health.’

Former prime ministers Boris Johnson and Liz Truss sent their best wishes to the King.

Mr Johnson wrote on X: ‘The whole country will be rooting for the King today. Best wishes to Charles III for a full and speedy recovery.”

Ms Truss said: ‘Sending every best wish to His Majesty The King and the Royal Family as he undergoes his treatment for cancer. He will be in our thoughts and prayers.

‘God Save The King!’

Professional boxer Frank Bruno MBE told his followers that his ‘thoughts and prayers’ were with the King.

‘Just heard the news about King Charles thoughts and prayers with him and the Royal Family. When are we ever to be rid of this evil disease Cancer?’ he wrote.

The statement from Buckingham Palace shared the King’s intention to continue with State business and official paperwork.
