It’s bad news for Minx fans who were recently given fresh hope of the show returning.

Sadly, Starz has now officially axed the programme for the second time in a bid to cut costs.

Minx was originally scrapped by the network in December, despite being renewed for a second season back in May.

At the time, the HBO Max project was reportedly preparing to wrap production on its second season when Warner Bros. Discovery decided to pull the plug.

It was confirmed that the first season would also be taken off HBO Max, with producer Lionsgate Television planning to pitch the series to other outlets.

At the time, Lionsgate said in a statement: ‘We have enjoyed a good partnership with HBO Max and are working closely to find a new opportunity for Minx, so current, and new viewers, can continue this journey with us.’

Mix was then saved from cancellation when Starz announced that they had acquired the second season and would air it along with the first.

Season 2 debuted on Starz on July 21.

Alas, it will not be returning for a third.

Some good news, though, is that both the first and second seasons shall remain available on the Starz app and platforms.

Minx’s cancellation comes after the programme was met with positive reviews from critics.

But, sadly, it failed to gain a large viewership.

Season 2 on Starz averaged less than 100,000 viewers per episode.

Created by Ellen Rapoport, Minx is set in 1970s Los Angeles and follows an earnest young feminist who joins forces with a low-rent publisher to create the first erotic magazine for women.

Thanks to their unlikely alliance, the pair discover meaningful relationships in the most unusual places.

Ophelia Lovibond and Jake Johnson star in main roles, as do Michael Angarano, Jessica Lowe, Oscar Montoya, Lennon Parham, and Idara Victor.

Several known actors also make guest appearances.

Taylor Zakhar Perez starred as Shane Brody in season 1, while Stephen Tobolowsky played Conrad Ross.
