Madonna appeared to reignite her feud with Lady Gaga last week a few years after they seemingly settled their differences.
Madonna, 65, took to the stage at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena with her Celebration Tour on Friday, mistakenly thinking she was in front of a Boston audience.
After saying ‘are you guys mad at me because I said “Hello, Boston?”,’ the Vogue hitmaker then made a dig at Gaga, 37.
Madonna said of her Boston mistake: ‘I’m sorry. What kind of f**ked up s**t is that?’
She then added: ‘That would be like if you guys were saying, “Hey, Lady Gaga’s playing tonight!” I wouldn’t like that.’
Madge went on: ‘I mean, you know, nothing against Lady Gaga. Love her. I do! I love anyone shorter than me.’
Madonna’s comments come after she and Gaga seemingly ended their long-running feud after being pictured together at her Oscars after-party in 2019.
After scooping Best Original Song and flooring the room with an excellent performance of A Star Is Born’s Shallow with Bradley Cooper, Gaga ventured to Madonna’s post-Oscars bash where the pair were photographed by Time holding one another on a white background.
Gaga has been compared to Madonna throughout her career, with the former’s single Born This Way in 2011 possessing similarities with Madonna’s Express Yourself, which was released back in 1989.
While she never took legal action over the comparisons, Madonna previously told ABC News in 2012 that she thinks the song ‘feels reductive’.
She later stated to Rolling Stone in 2015 how she believes Gaga is a ‘very talented singer and songwriter’ – only picking fault when she ‘blatantly ripped off one of my songs’.
Gaga then spoke about the comparisons in her Netflix documentary Five Foot Two, saying: ‘So the thing with me and Madonna for example, is that I admired her always.
‘And I still admire her, no matter what she might think of me. She wouldn’t look me in the eye and tell me that I was reductive or whatever… Telling me you think I’m a piece of s**t through the media? It’s like a guy passing me a note through his friend.
‘I just want Madonna to f**king push me up against the wall and kiss me and tell me I’m a piece of s**t.’
