Beverly Hills 90210 actor David Gail has died aged 58, his sister has announced on Instagram.
Gail was best known for playing the fiancé of Shannon Doherty’s Brenda Walsh in the beloved US show and for his role as Dr Joe Scanlon in the General Hospital spin-off Port Charles.
The star’s death was confirmed by his sister Katie Colmenares, who described him as her ‘best friend, and Peter Ferriero, who hosts a Beverly Hills, 90210 rewatch podcast.
The cause of death has not yet been announced.
Alongside a picture of them hugging on a veranda, Colmenares wrote: ‘There’s barely been even a day in my life when you were not with me by my side always my wingman always my best friend ready to face anything and anyone w me.
‘The bears will never be the same but I will hold you so tight every day in my heart you gorgeous loving amazing fierce human being missing you every second of every day forever there will never be another 💔💖.’
Ferriero, meanwhile, shared some clips from when Gail was on his podcast on Instagram and wrote: ‘In memory of David Gail. Here are a few stories he shared when he joined the podcast.’
Gail began his acting career in the 90s, with roles on TV series Growing Pains, Doogie Howser MD and The Round Table among his first roles.
He went on to star in Murder, She Wrote and Matlock before appearing in eight episodes of Beverly Hills, 90210, which also starred the likes of Tori Spelling.
After Beverley Hills, 90210, Gail had long-running roles in Robin’s Hoods, Savannah and in Port Charles.
His later appearances include ER, JAG, Perfect Opposites and Bending All the Rules.
According to IMDB, his last role was as a voice actor for video game Blacksad: Under the Skin in 2019 and horror film The Belly of the Best in 2008.
