TV star Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell has died at the age of 29.
The reality star is best-known for appearing on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo alongside Mama June Shannon and Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson, now 18.
She had been diagnosed with terminal cancer in January of this year.
Shannon shared the news with a heartbreaking statement on Instagram on Sunday, saying Cardwell was ‘no longer with us.’
‘She passed away in my home last night peacefully at 11:12 PM. She gave one hell of a fight for 10 months she passed away with her family around her like she [wanted] and we will will be updating y’all with more information as we get it today.
Shannon finished: ‘We love y’all and continued prayers and thoughts for our family [during] this difficult time.’
Her sister ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson shared the post to her Instagram stories and added: ‘Fly high for me beautiful.’
She said they had ‘surrounded Anna with love and let her know it was okay to go,’ and that her sister took her last breath at around 11pm.
‘Anna was in so much pain last night but now as a family we all know she is at peace now,’ Thompson went on.
‘I really don’t know what to say as my heart is completely broken. Watching my 29 year old sister this last year battle this horrible disease hasn’t been easy. Anna was a fighter & still is.
‘Lord please wrap your arms around her 2 babies & our family as the next couple of days will make this all a reality. I’m so glad that you waited til i was home to take your last breath!’
‘I would’ve loved for you to get to see me graduate college but i know you will forever cheer me on in heaven! We will all make sure your legacy lives on forever. And i promise to always make sure to celebrate our birthday like you never left.’
Thompson finished: ‘The sky looks a little bit different today. We will always love you Anna. You hit me hard with his one Anna but i know your in a better place now and pain free forever!’
Cardwell was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma in January, but stopped chemotherapy earlier this year after doctors deemed her cancer terminal.
Mama June had previously shared that Cardwell had a ‘rough’ time with chemotherapy and had been sleeping a lot.
On Saturday, she had pleaded for prayers as Cardwell’s condition deteriorated.
Cardwell rose to fame on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, an American reality show focused on her family and sister Alana’s childhood pageants.
She herself is mother two children: Kaitlyn, 11, and Kylee, eight, who she shares with ex-husband Michael Cardwell.
Cardwell was initially diagnosed with adrenal carcinoma which had spread to her lungs, liver and kidney.
Shannon had shared in July that Cardwell’s children were ‘aware’ of her diagnosis but Kaylee was ‘too young to really comprehend’ what was happening.
On Saturday, hours before Cardwell’s death, Shannon had shared a video saying ‘Anna is still with us’.
‘‘But as we are going through this transition, we are asking still for continued prayers for Anna, continued prayers for the family.’
‘I’m going to sign off, this will be my last message. When that time does come, we will also as a family come to y’all on social media because Anna would not have it any f***ing other way.’
‘But we love you guys, and continue to pray for us as a family.’
