Lizzo has said she is ‘heartbroken’ after her dog Pooka died aged 18 on Christmas Eve.
The About Damn Time singer, 35, announced Pooka’s death with two Instagram posts and shared a series of pictures of herself with her pet throughout the years.
On the first, she wrote simply: ‘We will always love you, Pooka Diamanté Jefferson. 4•10•2005 – 12•24•2023.’
The other, meanwhile, read: ‘I’m not ok im so heartbroken rip Pooka.’
The Truth Hurts musician’s comments section was flooded with consolatory messages from her 12.5M followers.
Popstar Sza shared: ‘Wait nooo !! I’m so honored have met you🥲😞😩.’
DJ Sophia Eris added: ‘No no 🥺 long live Pooka. Love you all 💖.’
Pooka’s death comes three months after Lizzo asked for the full dismissal of the sexual harassment case three former dancers have brought against her in official court documents.
The Good As Hell singer and her team were accused in August of inappropriate behaviour including sexual, racial, and religious discrimination and harassment.
Lizzo, real name Melissa Jefferson, strongly denied the allegations in a statement, claiming she was ‘hurt’ by the news.
In September, she formally requested the case put forward by Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez be dismissed ‘in its entirety’.
The court documents acquired by ET stated the dancers’ case ‘fails to state facts sufficient to constitute a cause of action against Defendants’.
It also alleged the three women ‘are guilty of unclean hands’, meaning they have brought the case in bad faith or unethically.
Davis, Williams, and Rodriguez worked with the Juice singer on her Special tour and during the competition show Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls.
They claimed her behaviour would change once the cameras were off and accused her of body shaming, bullying, and false imprisonment as well as sexual harassment.
Lizzo and her company Big Grrl Touring have denied ‘each and every’ allegation.
Stefan Friedman, spokesperson for Lizzo, told ET: ‘This is the first step of a legal process in which Lizzo and her team will demonstrate that they have always practiced what they’ve preached – whether it comes to promoting body positivity, leading a safe and supportive workplace or protecting individuals from any kind of harassment.
‘Any and all claims to the contrary are ridiculous, and we look forward to proving so in a court of law.’
