The players of Manchester City were congratulated by one very famous fan after triumphing in the FA Cup final.
They bumped into the one and only Sir Elton John at the airport after their win against Manchester United at London’s Wembley Stadium on Saturday (June 3), with the Tiny Dancer hitmaker more than happy to stop for selfies.
Oh, and he even got to hold the trophy!
Meeting the Rocketman, 76, on the runway after jetting back to Manchester for a night of celebrations, the whole team was in high spirits – understandably.
Video footage of the excitable moment show’s City’s stars queueing up to meet Sir Elton, who slotted right in with his designer tracksuit.
The likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker all received greetings and hugs from the music icon, with Phil Foden even bagging a cheeky selfie!
In a second video shared by the Man City Twitter account, the staff are seen taking photos of the iconic meeting while the singer belts out his tune Your Song with them.
‘You can tell everybody, we’ve won the FA Cup!’, they captioned the clip.
After singing, Sir Elton told them: ‘One more next week!’, before the City crew started to applaud.
The whole group then gathered for a picture, with Sir Elton more than happy to get in the middle.
Beaming alongside the squad, the Glastonbury headliner held onto the huge trophy they took home after a 2-1 win.
Also with the team was City boss Pep Guardiola, who was spotted in the background taking in the mad encounter.
The Twitter video has had over one million views, with Man City fans absolutely loving it.
‘This is why I love this football club. They just get it.’, one person tweeted.
‘I absolutely love this! Not bad singing from @mancity players either. Elton looks just as happy meeting Foden as Foden is meeting Elton! My club’, another tweeted.
‘This is so, so wholesome and good.’, another wrote.
Their FA Cup victory was an incredible achievement for City.
The Premier League champions won as captain Ilkay Gundogan scored a goal after just 13 seconds in what was the fastest score in FA Cup final history.
And they did all of that with the added pressure of several A-listers in the stands.
Ryan Reynolds stopped by to take in the action, along with Paul Mullin, as the star Wrexham striker picked up the top scorer award in this season’s competition.
Meanwhile, David Beckham and sons Brooklyn and Cruz had an emotional time of things.
As Manchester United fans, the match was a real rollercoaster for the trio, as their celebrations were short-lived.
Becks was seen looking glum after his own former team failed to secure the win, but hey, taking part matters most, right?
