GTA 6 leaker spoils ending and claims it’s partly set in Cuba

A new rumour for GTA 6 claims that Vice City is not the only location in the game and that the story includes a major time skip.

There might not be any official word on GTA 6 but there’s been a number of new rumours, and comments from Rockstar Games owner Take-Two, in the last few weeks and it’s beginning to seem like it might be a case of there being no smoke without fire.

The latest rumour is the first in a while to suggest that GTA 6 may have a setting other than just Vice City – GTA’s fictionalised version of Miami.

Even the very earliest GTA games had multiple cities, although it’s not entirely clear whether the rumour is suggesting that Cuba is a normal part of the map, that you can visit anytime you want, or a one-off diversion like Guarma in Red Dead Redemption 2.

The information comes from insider Tyler McVicker, who has proven to be a very reliable source of leaks for Valve games. However, it’s unusual for him to offer details about games from other companies.

What makes his comments immediately believable though is that the video in which he originally discussed the leaks has been taken down from YouTube. It’s not clear why but if that was at the behest of Rockstar it suggests what he was saying was true.

According to McVicker the story of the game is heavily influenced by the story of Bonnie and Clyde, and has just two main characters, which is something previous rumours have also suggested.

However, McVicker implies that the game is based more directly on Bonnie and Clyde than previously realised, describing it as a retelling and stating that, ‘We already know how GTA 6 is gonna end.’

Bonnie and Clyde were a famous pair of bank robbers in the early 1930s, who murdered at least 13 people, nine of them police officers. They were ambushed and shot to death by police in Louisiana.

Although a grisly end is exactly what you’d expect from any story inspired by the couple it may be that talking about the GTA 6’s ending is what upset Rockstar, if they are the reason why the video is no longer available.

McVicker also mentions a time jump, although it’s not clear at which point in the game it takes place or from what time period. If the game is initially set in the 1930s there’s been nothing to suggest it so far, but it does sound like something Rockstar might try.

Although if it’s set that far back in time it’s not clear how old the main characters would be or what time period the majority of the game would be set in.

The final titbits are that the game is about bank robbing and the drug trade, which is hardly a stretch for Grand Theft Auto, and that the game will be out in 2024 – which is already the general assumption.

When Rockstar will talk about anything official, though, is the one thing none of the leakers claim to know…
