Britain’s Got Talent newcomer Bruno Tonioli faced Simon Cowell’s wrath during his grand debut.

In the premiere of series 16 tonight, the former Strictly Come Dancing judge, 67, took his place on the panel alongside Simon, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon.

Following the first day of auditions, it was reported that Bruno wasn’t too familiar with BGT protocols, and that was certainly demonstrated after an auditionee’s performance.

Mikko Rautiainen, 43, had the judges slightly stunned after he performed a pop song medley on a recorder through his nose.

Yep, Britain’s Got Talent is officially back.

Giving his two cents on Mikko’s audition, Bruno said: ‘Well it’s definitely original and your nose is going to be perfectly clean, but it’s a no from me.’

Shortly after delivering his verdict, Bruno stunned the audience and the judges by pressing his buzzer.

‘You don’t have to do that as well. You can just say no!’ Simon snapped.

Bruno asked: ‘I don’t have to do that? Oh I’m sorry.’

Clearly stunned by the bold move, Simon felt compelled to ask Bruno: ‘Have you ever watched this show?’

To which Amanda and Alesha confirmed that Bruno has never tuned in to watch the annual talent series.

It’s a learning curve Bruno!

The flamboyant choreographer replaced long-serving judge David Walliams after leaked recordings captured the 51-year-old comedian making disparaging comments about people auditioning for the reality talent show.

He later apologised for his offensive comments, stating: ‘I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for Britain’s Got Talent in 2020.

‘These were private conversations and – like most conversations with friends – were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry.’

Britain’s Got Talent continues tomorrow at 7:45pm on ITV and ITVX.
