Anna Nicole Smith’s life, death, and secrets are set to be examined in a brand new Netflix documentary.
Set for release next month, the streaming giant has dropped the first look trailer for Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me, which is chocked full of never-seen-before footage of the late model and actress.
‘From her first appearance in Playboy in 1992, Anna Nicole’s dizzying ascent was the very essence of the American dream, brought to a tragic halt with her untimely passing in 2007,’ the synopsis teases.
‘With access to never-before-seen footage, home movies, and interviews with key figures who have not spoken out until now, this film reveals new insights into the story of the quintessential blonde bombshell hardly anyone really knew.’
The Netflix documentary sets out to delve into the truth about Smith, born Vickie Lynn Hogan.
In the preview, she declares: ‘I want lots of money to make my dreams come true.’
Smith’s friend Frankie Rodriguez previously said that she had battled with her private and public personas.
‘There was Vickie Lynn Marshall and Anna Nicole Smith,’ Frankie said. ‘Any kinda camera, you just yelled out her name, “Anna Nicole.” When she turned around, it was on the spot; you saw Anna Nicole.
‘The minute that camera left, it was a whole other person. She was back to Vickie Lynn. I [am] very fortunate to have met and gotten to know Vickie Lynn… How she did it, I don’t know. But whatever she was doing, it was making everybody watch.’
In 2021, Smith’s daughter Dannielynn Birkhead sought answers about her late mother’s life in the 20/20 documentary special titled Tragic Beauty.
The teen was filmed retracing her mother’s footsteps on a road trip with her father Larry Birkhead, to visit Anna Nicole’s early homes in Texas, where she was born and spent her early school years.
Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me arrives May 16 on Netflix.
