A woman who appeared on Naked Education revealed she didn’t hesitate to choose her pubic hair over her then-boyfriend.
The new six-part series, which will be co-hosted by Yinka Bokinni, former Love Island star Doctor Alex George and Anna Richardson, aims to help the body positivity movement through frank discussions.
In the Channel 4 programme’s first episode on Tuesday night, a bunch of people stripped naked in order to discuss their relationship to their bodies, as well as to pubic hair.
One woman said: ‘I shaved for as long as I can remember from like 14 and look back on how sad it is that a girl would feel the need to shave her own legs when her male counterparts were totally free to run around with their hairy legs.
‘So I decided to leave my pubic hair and I had a partner at the time who gave me an ultimatum and said he would end it if I didn’t shave.
‘So I chose my pubic hair over my man and I’ve been hairy ever since.’
Yinka commented: ‘Pubes before dudes’, while Dr Alex shared his respect as the rest of the contestants burst into applause.
‘Pubes before dudes that’s amazing,’ the woman beamed, ‘I’ve never thought of it that way before. I love it.’
She continued: ‘I’ve just learnt a lot and that’s it. I’m not against saving I would shave again. It’s important to me that I have a choice and it’s my choice. I’m not doing it for a partner or for society or for anyone else.
Speaking about the show earlier this week Anna, 52, said: ‘Naked Education is sort of one step further than Naked Attraction, as it says: “Let’s normalise bodies, let’s have the conversation about what we go through and let’s actually educate the nation.”
Anna recalled one particularly special scene on the show with Finn, who is transgender, who discussed having his penis surgically created and even showed the results on camera.
‘I’ve never seen that before in the flesh and I don’t think I’ve seen it on TV, so the fact that Finn was prepared to go naked, show his penis and show how it works – that was mind blowing!,’ said Anna to The Sun.
Naked Education continues on Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
