Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny to premiere at Cannes Film Festival with special tribute to Harrison Ford

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is set to premiere at Cannes Film Festival next month, ahead of the official release date.

Fans have been not-so-patiently waiting for the fifth instalment in the action franchise, starring Harrison Ford, Mads Mikkelsen and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, ever since the official trailer landed last year.

We’re inching ever closer to having Indy back on the big screen for his final outing, with Cannes organizers pulling out all the stops for the world premiere.

Bosses will also be paying tribute to Harrison, 80, and his incredible Hollywood career so far at the ceremony.

In a statement, director James Mangold confirmed: ‘In 1995, I was honored to come to Cannes with my first film as part of Director’s Fortnight. 28 years later, I am proud to return with a slightly larger spectacle.

‘My legendary collaborators and I are very excited to share a brand new and final Indiana Jones adventure with you!’

The Dial of Destiny red carpet will be released in cinemas on June 30 and comes 15 years after Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull first premiered at the festival.

The moviemarks Harrison’s fifth outing as the beloved action hero, more than 40 years after he first took on the role in Raiders Of The Lost Ark, in 1981.

After the flick was announced, he revealed that he would be stepping away from the role for good, confirming: ‘This is it. I will not fall down for you again.’

Plot details for the action-packed blockbuster have been kept tightly under wraps, but it has been claimed that the Hollywood icon will be ‘de-aged’ in scenes.

He recently spoke to Empire Magazine about the flick, and what kept him coming back to Indiana Jones for more adventures.

‘It’s full of adventure, full of laughs, full of real emotion. And it’s complex and it’s sneaky,’ he said. ‘The shooting of it was tough and long and arduous. But I’m very happy with the film that we have.

‘I just thought it would be nice to see one where Indiana Jones was at the end of his journey. If a script came along that I felt gave me a way to extend the character.’

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be released in cinema on June 30.
