A Japanese comedian caught the Britain’s Got Talent judges off guard when he revealed he wanted to pose naked for his audition.
On Saturday night’s episode of the talent show, Tonikaku Akarui Yasumura walked onto stage in a bathrobe and introduced himself to the audience.
Immediately striking up a conversation with Alesha Dixon about how he ‘loved tea’, he shared that he’d flown to the other side of the world to chase his dreams to perform for the Royal Family.
But things quickly took a turn when Tonikaku started to undo his robe, at which point Bruno Tonioli started saying ‘no,no,no’, while Alesha held a sheet of paper in front of her face.
As music started playing he started amping the audience up and made sure to let everyone know he was ‘wearing pants’, pointing to his underwear.
‘But I can pose naked,’ he added.
Looking alarmed, Alesha started shaking her head and advising him not to, but he carried on and announced his first ‘naked pose’.
After a quick dance, the music stopped and Tonikaku held his pose, which saw his left leg bent in the air, covering his underwear and creating the illusion that he was in fact starkers on stage.
At this point the judges and audience clued on, and couldn’t get enough.
‘Don’t worry, I’m wearing,’ he said, again pointing to his pants.
He then showed off a ‘horse racing’ naked pose, and a James Bond one, before wrapping up with a Spice Girls position.
Each time he made sure to remind everyone he was clothed, if minimally.
Receiving a standing ovation from everyone in the London Palladium, Tonikaku’s audition was a total hit.
‘You might be my favourite contestant of the series so far,’ Alesha said.
Bruno joked that Tonikaku ‘definitely had balls’.
Amanda added: ‘Tony you are absolutely unique and it felt absolutely Britain’s Got Talent. I loved it.’
But it was Simon who seemed to be the biggest fan, telling the comedian that he was ‘honestly the funniest contestant we’ve had on all year’.
‘[You are] really, really funny and original…you are unbelievable and you are brilliant. I absolutely love you.’
After receiving four yes’ from the judges, Tonikaku is through to the next round.
Britain’s Got Talent continues on Sunday at 8pm on ITV.
