Whether for breakfast, lunch, or a mid-afternoon snack, these cheese-stuffed waffled crumpets are a delightful treat.
They might not look like much at first, but trust me: once you try these, you’ll want to make them all the time.
And the good news is: they’re not at all tricky to make.
When the cheese melts into the crumpet and gets slightly crispy, it’s an actual dream – one that kids and adults will enjoy.
Feel free to tweak your fillings – mushrooms make a great meat-free option, or you can try different types of cheese.
Here’s how to make them.
Recipe: Cheese-stuffed waffled crumpets
Ingredients:
- One crumpet
- Cheddar (grated)
- Ham or chicken slices
Method:
- Cut your crumpet in half using a sharp knife to make two sandwich slices
- Place a couple of slices of ham or chicken on one half of the crumpet, then top with loads of grated cheese.
- Place the other half of the crumpet on top, then place your sandwich in a waffle iron.
- Close and cook for around seven minutes, depending on your waffle iron and how toasted you like it.
- Cut into four and enjoy.
