Always wanted to buy a huge private estate for you and your friends to live on?
A new property listing could be up your street.
An impressive country estate that’s twice the size of Gibraltar – and comes with its own island, 13 properties and several beaches – is on the market for £10.46million.
The Tayvallich Estate is located on a little-known peninsula in Argyll, on the Scottish west coast, and is made up of 3,300 acres – which can be sold as a whole or split into smaller plots.
What’s more, the land is home to some geologically and ecologically notable Scottish landscape – with three different Special Areas of Conservation and five different Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
On the estate, there are 13 houses and cottages, which are currently occupied by employees and used as short-term holiday lets.
The largest of these is Coshandrochaid House, which is a two-storey contemporary property – with outstanding views over the southern end of the peninsula.
Potential buyers will also find lots of development opportunities, with ample ruins and run-down buildings elsewhere on the estate.
So if you’re keen to take on a bit of a project, this might be for you.
But perhaps the highlight is Danna Island – which has been described as the ‘jewel in the crown’ of the estate.
This includes three properties, a range of farm buildings and a stunning barrel-vaulted boathouse, woodland, grazing land and over 6km of coastal frontage with two jetties, stunning beaches and several smaller uninhabited islands.
Estate agents Strutt & Parker have described the listing as a ‘once in a lifetime opportunity.’
Robert McCulloch, the head of Strutt & Parker’s Estates & Farm Agency in Scotland, said: ‘The Tayvallich Peninsula is like no other I’ve seen on the market in the past two decades.
‘With four separate bodies of water forming its coastline, and comprised of a cluster of islands of varying size, the estate’s landscape is one of undulating topography liberally cloaked with native woodland. It is a truly exceptional place.
‘For buyers to have the opportunity to purchase lots ranging from a 1,700-acre estate on a tranquil and verdant peninsula to an 811-acre self-contained island is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.’
