UK chicken fans have faced a long wait to get their hands on Popeyes, but the fast food chain is finally almost here.
After announcing their first store on British shores in March this year, we’ve been eagerly awaiting developments – and can now reveal more details.
Popeyes will open its doors in Westfield Stratford City on 20 November, and the iconic chicken shop has also shared their menu.
There are plenty of American classics on there – including biscuits and gravy – as well as Popeyes’ first ever vegan option.
The brand’s famous hand-battered chicken – marinated for 12 hours in a blend of Louisianan herbs and spices inspired by its heritage – will be front and centre on the menu, available in classic or spicy flavours.
Popeyes’ chicken tenders, hot wings, mac ‘n’ cheese, and Southern biscuits with Cajun gravy will also be available. Far from digestives, these scone-like savoury biscuits are a staple across the pond, used to soak up gravy and add some carby goodness to your dinner.
It’s not all chicken either. The company’s first vegan alternative – the Creole Red Bean Sandwich – arrives in the UK with the first Popeyes. This plant-based red bean patty comes with lettuce, tomato, and a Creole sauce in a soft brioche bun, and is suitable for vegans and veggies.
Fans of the much-loved chain will also be pleased to know that their sauces are being introduced here too – including Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Hottie Sauce’ collaboration.
The ‘sauce portfolio’ will include popular dips like Mardia Gras Mustard, Bold BBQ, Mango Habanera, and Ranch.
Sweet-toothed fans of the brand are in luck as well, as Popeyes new handspun shakes will be available for customers, including Lotus Biscoff and Oreo flavours – alongside a selection of classic sundaes.
You can sample it all from 20 November at the new location in Westfield Stratford City.
For those of you not in London, Popeyes has said ‘more locations [are] expected to be announced imminently’.
