Ever wanted to visit Gotham City IRL?
A new dining concept in London’s West End is giving you the chance, with five restaurants and bars dedicated to DC Comics’ most famous bat.
Not in London? We’ve got the latest restaurant openings and deals from around the UK for you to discover.
Let’s tuck in.
The Lowdown: Park Row, Piccadilly
What? Offering curious diners and DC Comics aficionados the chance to immerse themselves in Batman’s universe, this intriguing concept entails five bars and restaurants which nod, subtly but stylishly, to Gotham City and the fictional world of Bruce Wayne.
One of the bars is called Pennyworth’s, after his trusty butler Alfred; main space the Iceberg Lounge is the name of the casino opened by the villain Penguin after he tried to turn respectable; and the Rogues’ Gallery is hung with copies of six famous stolen paintings which have still never been recovered, in homage to Catwoman’s career as a burglar.
Decor is smart and slick, and while you won’t find any staff dressed as the Joker or Harley Quinn, it’s the Easter eggs scattered around that will thrill fans.
Where? It occupies a vast, 18,000sq ft underground space on the corner of Brewer Street and Air Street, which used to house notorious 1990s drinking den the Atlantic Bar.
Tell us more! The upmarket brasserie-style food includes playful touches, such as nitro ice cream and edible balloons, but expect hearty platters of fruits de mer, ribeye steaks, Dover sole and rack of lamb.
If you’re having an aperitif at Pennyworth’s, whisky aficionados will love the automatic robot pourer, which dispenses an exact measure, while a particular cocktail in the Rogues’ Gallery is served via a painting.
Anything else? High-rollers will want to try the intricate 11-course tasting menu at the private dining room, Monarch Theatre (where Bruce witnessed his parents killed).
It’s a fully immersive and, aptly, theatrical, experience (£195pp including wine pairing).
Fiend
Chef Chris Denney comes to Fiend on Portobello Road.
And fiendishly good he is, with innovative dishes including lamb heart agnolotti with runner beans and mustard dashi, and diver scallops with yellow hot sauce, kent mango and pork skin.
Korean Dinner Party
The hip US corn dog is all the rage in certain London restaurants.
Find a good example at Korean Dinner Party, which serves an LA-style take on Korean cuisine.
Located in Kingly Court, it also offers the likes of kimchi pancakes and a cool cocktail list.
El Perro Negro
Glasgow burger joint El Perro Negro has just claimed the title of best burger in the UK at the National Burger Awards.
Its Top Dog burger features bone marrow, Roquefort butter, double bacon, caramelised onions and black truffle mayo.
Sheep Dog
You can now consume a peanut butter and jam sarnie in liquid form — kind of — with the help of Sheep Dog’s delicious new peanut butter whisky.
Like a boozy Snickers bar, you can try it neat, or combine with grape liqueur to make a PB & J that’s more fun than the ones you had for lunch at school.

Batch & Bottle
Pre-mixed cocktail range Batch & Bottle has just launched in the UK with four ready-to-pour serves from some of the world’s best spirits brands.

Ostera
New UK brand Ostera offers a new approach to vermouth. Made with English hedgerow ingredients — including nettle, elderflower and hawthorn berries — it comes in a red wine or white wine base.
The white is light, crisp and refreshing, while the red has notes of cinnamon-like cassia — perfect for the not-too-far-off festive season.
