Easter is a wonderful time of year, even though it’s another having to be celebrated in some form of lockdown for the second year running.

Spring has sprung, the nights are lighter, there are chocolate Easter eggs aplenty in the shops, and to top it all off, it’s a wonderful excuse to share well wishes with our nearest and dearest.

But parents and families have plenty more to look forward to: the Easter bunny, fun activities for kids, and plenty of Easter crafts.

Here are some cheap and easy Easter crafts for kids of all ages, including bonnets, bunny ears, and homemade Easter baskets…

Make a paper Easter bonnet in minutes

It takes just a few minutes to make this Easter bonnet – with the right supplies at hand.

What you need is a: A cardboard box, ribbon, pipe cleaners, colourful tissue paper, tape, glue stick, stapler, pen and scissors.

Then simply follow the instructions, cutting into the cardboard to make a round hat, attach together with pipe cleaners and then your little one can decorate to their heart’s content.

How to make adorable handprint bunnies

All you need for this low-key kids’ craft idea is some paper (white and white work best, but any colour will look good), a pencil, some scissors plus a couple of pens.

Draw around your child’s hand, your own hand or make the shape of a hand. Then simply cut out the hand, and fold away the thumb and little finger.

Use the scissors to take off the middle finger, leaving the second and fourth finger as bunny ears.

All that’s left is to decorate with buck teeth, a cute twitchy nose, and whiskers.

Make an Easter egg with string

These string eggs are fairly simply, but you’ll need water balloons, a small dish, PVA glue, water and cotton yarn.

Once you’ve mixed the PVA glue and water, add in the cotton yarn as shown in the video – then start wrapping it around the water balloon.

A bit of a sticky craft, but lots of fun.

How to make an Easter basket

To make these brightly-coloured paper baskets, you just need glue, a pencil, a ruler, some scissors and some paper.

There’s lots of folding and cutting involved in this craft – so perhaps best suited for older teens and adults. Worth it for the finished result.

How to make easy fabric bunny ears

If you’ve got an old hairband spare, plus some grey/pink felt, PVA glue, scissors and cardboard in your craft box – these bunny ideas are easy to make and lots of fun.

From there, it’s fairly self-explanatory – cutting the cardboard and felt to make the ear shape and design, before sticking to the headband.

Design these clever Easter cards

Fun for kids to colour in (and crafty parents to make), all you need for these festive cards is lots of colourful paper, colourful pencils or pens and some scissors.

The perfect way to say happy Easter – especially when we can’t gather with as many people as we’d like.

How to make paper chicks

A nice change from Easter eggs and bunnies, you just need scissors, string, glue, yellow paper, orange paper and a little bit of black and white paper for these cute paper chicks.

The chick’s body is created with lots of folds, before the orange feet and eyes are stuck on with glue.

How to make an easy paper Easter wreath

There are plenty of tutorials for DIY wreaths for houseproud adults to make this Easter. But few for kids.

This bright green wreath isn’t as complicated as it looks – and only requires colourful paper, scissors, and a glue stick to make.

Make mini Easter baskets using cupcake holders

If you’re really searching the cupboards for craft materials, keep an eye out for cupcake holders – as they make for lovely mini baskets.

An ideal place to store little sweet treats. A stapler, glue stick, felt and scissors are also required.

Create Easter window stickers

Starting at 1m 10s, this tutorial allows you to show off your kids’ crafts to the world, plus brightening up your living room windows.

These rainbow rabbit and Easter egg stickers require lots of colourful tissue paper, card and scissors.
