Life in lockdown has made online deliveries the most exciting part of our days.
Add booze into the mix – whether in the form of a cocktail kit or a box of carefully chosen craft beers – and the postman’s knock on the door sparks a lot of joy.
But perhaps we’ve been thinking too small.
Why settle for a six-pack, when you can get 99 beers delivered to your door?
No, we’re not suggesting just filling up your supermarket basket to the max.
There’s now a brewery that’s serving up the UK’s longest case of lager; a 7 ft 5 inch long box filled with 99 cans.
The £199 pack of Springwell Pils – which contains enough beer to fill up a bathtub – is the creation of North Brewing Co, who wanted to launch something special to celebrate the opening of their new brewery in Leeds.
Choosing the case cuts costs of a bulk order down to just £2 a can, and the brewery reckons it’ll be a great option for outdoor parties once lockdown lifts.
The bad news: you can currently only get the pack delivered if you live in Leeds.
But the good news is that the 40kg box will be delivered straight to your door, and its hefty size ensures it can be delivered in line with social distancing.
Sarah Hardy, the brewery’s marketing manager, said: ‘We’ve never seen anything this size sold in the UK before, so it could be the country’s biggest pack of beer.
‘Whenever we open a new bar or venue, we have a big party but we’ve not been able to have anyone in the venue yet and we still wanted to do something to celebrate.
‘It had to be something fun and playful, so we came up with the idea of the 99 can boxes to launch the new Springwell beer, named after the brewery itself.
‘At first, we were wondering whether we could deliver them in a Covid-secure way but the length of the box actually measures your distance which is perfect.
‘Luckily they just fit in the brewery’s van and they need two people to lift each box because they’re hefty things.
‘It’s nice that people are able to get a pack and stock up their fridge with a really nice lager to enjoy, without having to pop in and out of the shops.’
If you’re based in Leeds and are keen to make an order, you can buy the 99-can pack online now.
