If you’ve already run out of bread recipes, don’t panic – this chocolate cake is an easy choice to add to your list of bakes.
Shared by Chloe, who goes by the name Baking Envy, on TikTok, this particular recipe makes a chocolate cake that’s an absolute life-changer, apparently.
It’s attracted thousands of comments from people praising the end result.
The light, fluffy texture is down to some unexpected ingredients: coffee, canola oil and vinegar.
They sound a bit gross, but trust us, it makes all the difference.
So, how do you make it?
Ingredients:
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 3/4 cup canola oil
- 2 whole eggs
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup caster sugar
- 1 cup plain flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup boiling coffee
Method:
- Combine the milk and vinegar together and leave for five minutes
- Add in the canola oil, eggs, brown sugar and caster sugar and stir well with a whisk to combine
- Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt
- Combine well using the whisk
- Add in the boiling coffee and stir
- Pour into a lined round cake tin
- Cook in the oven for 50 to 60 minutes at 160 degrees Celsius until cooked through
