We might be longing for restaurants to reopen, but we sure are loving delivery kits in Lockdown 2.0.
From middle eastern flavours, ready-to-bake pizzas and at home sushi, we’re on a roll with takeaways.
There’s simply no need to put up with the same home-cooked meals scrambled together from the few ingredients you can buy in shops.
Treat yourself to ordering in and enjoy delicious food in the comfort of your own home.
Here are some of the best at-home delivery services to try out this week.
BrewDog Now, available in England
Self-styled beer punks BrewDog ride to your lockdown rescue with their BrewDog Now app.
Order from their extensive menu of ‘farm to table’ food, which includes burgers, wings, chilli (vegan options available) and even salads.
And, of course, there’s draught beer and cider – ‘freshly pulled’ to order, then canned – plus craft spirits, wine and soft drinks. Cheers!
Homeslice Take & Bake Kits, available nationwide
Hip pizza slingers Homeslice have teamed up with Jameson whiskey on their Take & Bake kits.
They include two ready-to-bake pizzas – choose from the likes of ’nduja and broccoli; vegan margherita; and salami, rocket and parmesan – plus all you need to make refreshing JGLs: Jameson, ginger ale and lime.
Kits cost £25.
Issho-Ni At Home, available in London
If there’s one thing most people have not learned to make during lockdown, it’s sushi.
Three cheers, then, for Bethnal Green restaurant Issho-Ni’s new At Home service, which will allow you to indulge in everything from sashimi to wagyu beef. Foie gras rolls, ramen, tempura, and gyoza are also on the menu.
The Barbary, available in London
Bursting with flavours from North Africa and the Middle East, Neal’s Yard restaurant The Barbary has started doing deli deliveries.
Stock your pantry with traditional breads such as challah and bagels, dips and spices from labneh to hummus and harissa, and bigger dishes, from fattoush salads to slow-cooked chicken tagine.
