In 2020, nothing is what it seems. Especially cake.
While we’re used to cakes looking pretty standard: round, square, rectangle, they have been taking on new and unique forms this year.
The ‘everything is cake’ meme was quite the viral trend this summer, but then seemed to slow down.
But baker Natalie Sideserf is back to show that this trend is still alive.
The uber-talented chef who specialises in gory-looking desserts, has opted for something that’s a bit easier on the eyes.
Natalie made a cake in the image of herself, and held it up in front of her head, showing the uncanny resemblance.
And disturbingly, Natalie took out a slice of the cake while dressed in the exact way the cake is decorated.
Her 230,000-strong fans couldn’t get enough of the eerie creation, commending her on her talents.
Natalie wrote on the post: ‘This is my favourite photo of myself and my face is completely covered by a cake. SO creepy.’
The post garnered more than 23,000 likes, with many followers doing a double-take when they realised that it was in fact cake, and not Natalie’s own head.
One person quipped: ‘When “I’ll give you a piece of my mind” becomes real,”’ while another wrote: ‘Wait! What sorcery is this’.
A third wrote: ‘This is creepy….. but I LOVE IT!!!!!! I think it should be a goal in everyone’s life, get a cake of your head and eat it all yourself.’
It’s certainly not the first time Natalie has wowed with her creations.
As a baker who normally makes horror film villains, animals, and body parts with cake, Natalie has experimented with all sorts of gruesome images.
For her own wedding, Natalie made a severed head cake of the bride and groom.
How very romantic.
But, still, a testament to her talents.
