Woman makes public apology for thieving cat who keeps stealing neighbours’ possessions

Kate Baker, from Andover, Hampshire, has had to make an embarrassingly public apology for her ‘thieving’ cat, who won’t stop stealing strangers’ things.

Kate, 35, posted a desperate plea in the Spotted In Andover New Facebook group to get the items her cat, Pixel, had brought home returned to their rightful owners.

‘My cat’s thieving has got so bad my brother bought her a box,’ Kate wrote in the group.

‘I would like to return the items… sorry in advance.’

Pixel, aged two, apparently began her stealing spree last year, nicking children’s toys whenever she could, then soon moving on to bringing home a new object every night.

Items in her haul include pine cones, huge carpets of moss, large feathers, gloves, toys, and blocks of wood.

‘When sheds are open and kids have toys out, she will go for more exciting things,’ Kate said.

‘I’d always planned on seeing if I could get them back to their owners, and left them in a pile; when my brother saw how much I’d accumulated he got me Pixel’s plunder box.

‘We always know when Pixel has brought us something she’s particularly proud of, as she has a unique wail of delight and will always leave her gifts on our landing.’

Thankfully, Kate has been able to return many of the items Pixel has nabbed, but she reckons more stolen ‘gifts’ are on their way.

She said: ‘I’ve returned the bits I know where they came from, but some are unclaimed.

‘I had three feathers this morning and you can guarantee she will be on the hunt for more “gifts”!

‘People have found it really funny and a welcome bit of a light-hearted fun.’

Pixel isn’t the only sneaky cat burglar to watch out for.

In the past few months alone we’ve covered multiple stories of cats going on theft sprees, including one kitty who’s stolen 50 pairs of gloves and a pair of knickers, another who had to be shamed for his habit of grabbing people’s clothes, and Thomas, who has spent eight years nicking socks, pants, and bread.

Do you have a cat naughtier than Pixel and the other thieves?
