Welcome back to What I Rent, our weekly series that takes you inside people’s rented properties.

While we’re usually looking at experiences of renting in the UK, today we’re a little further afield, chatting with Garima, 35, a digital content creator and home stylist from India.

Garima rents a two-bedroom apartment in Noida (New Okhla Industrial Development Authority), a city that shares borders with New Delhi and sits in India’s northern state of Uttar Pradesh.

She shares this home with her husband and their two-year-old daughter.

Hi, Garima! How much do you pay for rent each month? What about bills?

25000 Rs (around £262) a month, which includes rent, electricity, maintenance and water bills.

And what do you get for what you pay?

We have two bedrooms, one study, three bathrooms and a living/dining area.

Do you think you have a good deal?

Yes, I think it is a good deal, considering the huge space and three balconies we have.

What do you think of the area?

I think this area is well planned and all the necessary amenities are easily accessible, which makes it suitable for working individuals, small families and senior citizens.

Do you have enough space in the flat?

Yes, I am happy with space but the kitchen is too tiny for such a big flat.

How have you made the flat feel like home?

Well, I have decorated each and every nook of this flat according to the taste and preferences of my family.

I have tried to create small cosy corners that can help you unwind you after a tiring day.

Each and every wall of this apartment has been decorated with things we associate ourselves with as a family.

We love colours a lot so we have added bright pieces of furniture in the house.

Has it been difficult to decorate while renting?

It is not very difficult but still there are a lot of limitations we have to face while decorating a rental home.

You have to think creatively while decorating a rental home. My landlord is not too involved so we feel lucky that way.

Are there any problems with the home you have to deal with?

Yes, maintenance is an issue and we have to continuously invest in it.

Do you have plans to move again any time soon?

Not for another year for sure.

Do you want to own property one day or are you happy to rent?

I would definitely like to own a place someday.

Shall we take a look around?

How to get involved in What I Rent

What I Rent is Metro.co.uk’s weekly series that takes you inside the places people are renting, to give us all a better sense of what’s normal and how much we should be paying.

If you fancy taking part, please email whatirent@metro.co.uk. You’ll need to take pictures of your kitchen, living room, bathroom, and bedroom, plus a few photos of you in your bedroom or living area.

Make sure you get permission from your housemates! You’ll also need to be okay with sharing how much you’re paying for rent, as that’s pretty important.

We're not just after the prettiest places out there, by the way. We want the reality of renting, so if you're currently renting a place you hate, we'd love to see that too (and sympathise greatly!).
