A pair of pensioners – who don’t live in the same household – are the only residents in a remote Italian village.
Giovanni Carilli and Giampiero Nobili both live in separate homes in Nortosce, a remote small town located in Umbria.
The village is difficult to get into and to leave meaning Giovanni, 82, and Giampiero, 74, are often the only inhabitants.
Although the population of the town is minuscule, Giovanni and Giampiero still obey social distancing rules and wear face masks where they go.

Sometimes the pair go for a walk or an espresso but maintain a distance of two metres.
In Italy, face masks and social distancing are mandatory in all public places.
Giovanni and Giampiero only leave their neighbourhood if they need to go into town for medication or to see a doctor.
But the remoteness of Nortosce suits them just fine.
Though the pair love their independence, they worry about the coronavirus outbreak reaching their home town.
Giampiero told CNN Travel: ‘If I get sick, I’m on my own, who would look after me? I’m old, but I want to keep living here looking after my sheep, vines, beehives, and orchard. Hunting truffles and mushrooms. I enjoy my life.’
Giovanni added: ‘Wearing a mask and respecting social distancing is not just for health reasons. It’s not something “bad” or “good”. If there are rules, you need to abide by them for your own sake and other people’s. It’s a matter of principle.’
He continued: ‘We lead a very simple life: all we have to offer is fresh oxygen-rich air, peacefulness, silence, and healthy mountain water,
‘That’s our salvation. Whenever I need to go to a big city I feel sick, I hate the noise.’
