As the country is once again plunged into varying levels of lockdown and grapples with the baffling tier system – one thing we can be sure of is that socialising this winter is going to be tricky.
As soon as your area enters tier two or above, household mixing is off the cards, and the only way to meet with your friends (no more than six of you can meet), is to do it outside.
This was mostly OK in spring and summer as long as you could avoid the rain showers, but with the temperature plummeting, the thought of huddling around a frosty park bench and yelling at each other over gale-force winds is sending a literal shiver down our spines.
But, we don’t have much choice. So if you want to see your pals over the next few weeks, it’s best to be prepared – and get yourself a serious coat.
If you’ve been reluctant to invest in a proper winter coat, the type of coat that might get mistaken for a sleeping bag, now is the time to do it.
Weather you’re after snuggly faux fur, a squishy floor-length puffer, or something a little more timeless – we’ve pulled together the toastiest options on the market to make your alfresco meet-ups slightly more bearable.
Katie longline faux fur coat, Jakke, £279
OK, yes, this one is very pricey. But look at that print!
