Hotels launch Sleep Over to Help Turnover after success of Eat Out to Help Out restaurant scheme

Back in August, the restaurant industry had a bit of a boost with the Eat Out to Help Out scheme.

The idea was customers would get 50% off (up to £10 per person) on food on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Now, hotels are launching a similar scheme called Sleep Over to Help Turnover as they continue to struggle with the impact of coronavirus.

With people staying at home more, avoiding travelling and weddings being cut to 15 people, hotels have been hit hard.

So the Hospitality Professionals Association (HOSPA) has created the scheme, encouraging hotels to sign up and offer special rates, upgrades or added treats with bookings.

HOSPA said: ‘The scheme’s overriding purpose is to encourage the public to continue engaging with hotels beyond the summer months and into autumn and winter – helping to prolong the recovery boost provided by #EatOutToHelpOut and to offset the latest measures.

‘Looked at as a two-way initiative, #SleepOverToHelpTurnover seeks to encourage hoteliers to incentivise potential guests by offering discounts or extras, such as supplementary meals, additional nights, bottles of wine, free WiFi upgrades, complimentary parking, half-price cocktails and more to reward those who engage with the scheme and display their support for the hospitality industry.’

So far, just a few hotels have signed up but the organisation is hoping more will get involved.
