It’s all feeling a bit doomsday out there, so, suddenly, our usual property porn has been intercepted by underground bunkers.
Lusting over a bunker that’s safe from natural disasters and far, far away from other people just feels right, you know?
Rather than just a minimalist hole in the ground, this particular bunker makes quite the statement with its design – and it could be all yours for £1.4million.
Tucked away in 39 acres of land in Buffalo, Texas sits a unique 3,000-square-foot property with three bedrooms and two bathrooms – and yes, it’s all entirely underground, tornado-proof, and able to be entirely self-sufficient should the owner want to go off the grid.
The interiors are pretty incredible, with colourful hand-painted murals adorning every inch, from the Egyptian-themed bedroom with its own sarcophagus to the fake dog greeting you at the entrance.
It is currently on the market for £1,460,000 ($1,900,000 USD) with estate agent Terri Alexander of RE/MAX Landmark.
The property was built in 1999 by its current owner and has only been put up for sale for the first time this year.
As the home is underground, it doesn’t let in much natural light.
But the glorious interiors let you forget that pretty easily.
Along with looking cool, the domed ceiling provides safety from tornadoes and flooding.
Across from the bunker there are two workshops, making this the ideal home for creatives who just want to isolate from society and get work done, and there’s a wooden jetty that backs onto a gorgeous waterside.
Should the owners want to go off-grid, that’s totally possible, as the plot comes with a deep water well, spring-fed ponds, and a septic system.
But in case you did want to return to society and actually see other humans, Austin and Houston are just a two-hour drive away.
Terri Alexander said: ‘The monolithic dome home is fully underground.
‘It is currently running using a deep water well and co-op electric but can go off-grid with a twenty-two KVA propane electric generator with an auto switch panel
‘It has three additional rooms for work or leisure space, open living, kitchen, and dining areas. The garage can be two levels but currently is one.
‘The first workshop has three rooms and a full bathroom with additional two-thousand-six-hundred sq. ft of warehouse space and covered parking.
‘The second workshop is 5,000 sq. ft.’
If you’re pondering a move, love a good bunker, and have £1.4million spare, you can get in touch about the property through the listing.
