We’re sure you’re thinking it’s far too early to even be thinking about such things, but it’s only three months to Christmas – which means it’s time to start planning.
Although large gatherings may be off the table this year, large portions definitely don’t need to be.
One of the first supermarkets to announce their food range for the festive season is Sainsbury’s, who have plenty of products so we can eat our feelings over the 2020 that has been.
Sainsbury’s has been looking to expand their range this year – in particular releasing more options for vegans and vegetarians.
Head of Quality and Innovation at the supermarket said: ‘We saw a 54% increase in customers buying meat-free Christmas products last year, so we’re really excited to be introducing a new show-stopping vegan centrepiece, the Plant
Pioneers No Turkey Parcels – a true meat-free marvel!’
Other vegan options include a No Beef Wellington, No Pork Belly Bites, and No Fish and Chips party food.
Gluten-free options include FreeFrom mince pies and cranberry and orange tiffin bites.
For those who prefer a meatier treat, get ready for a stuffing wreath dotted not with holly but bacon-wrapped sausages.
The pigs-in-blankets wreath serves six and costs £10 available as part of the Sainsbury’s food to order catalogue.
Decorated with cranberries, rosemary, and those all-important piggies, the pork, sage and onion stuffing is a feast for the eyes as well as pork-loving family’s tastebuds.
Ring-shaped meat dishes seem to be a theme at Sainsbury’s this year, as their line-up also contains a Taste the Difference pork and cranberry garland. Encased in pastry and serving 10, it could be a winner on your buffet table.
One more standout dish that we simply can’t not mention is the yule dog. Given the hype around M&S’s Colin the Caterpillar cake, we imagine there might be a similar fanfare for this little guy.
The yule dog – a santa-hat-wearing dachshund swiss roll covered in sprinkles and candy canes – costs £8 and serves 14 (or half that if you’re a big chocolate cake lover).
Pre order your Christmas food in-store or online now.
