A sea view is a real selling point with a property and you can’t get much better than this one.
This former lighthouse has been converted into an eight-bedroom house, with a swimming pool – and it could all be yours for £995,000.
The property was also used as an an observation tower in World War Two so it has quite a history.
The Old Lighthouse on St Anne’s Head, near Haverfordwest, Wales, was decommissioned decades ago and has been used as an eight-bedroom house ever since.
The property has also four en-suite bathrooms, five reception rooms, plus a swimming pool and sauna.
While some of the rooms are in the straight-sided extension, others including the main kitchen, are within the former lighthouse itself and follow the building’s natural curve, which can be seen as the structure rises to the roof.
But the most dramatic room is the top-floor observatory, with 360-degree views of the area.
Rhys Jordan, of estate agents Purple Bricks, said: ‘For a time it was the Coastguard HQ and so I am guessing it may have been them who added the observation room.’
He said the downstairs accommodation was used as offices during this time.
He said: ‘The property has been a phenomenally successful holiday let which is great, but the family who own it have decided to take a break from that and this is why they’ve put it up for sale.’
He believes there are several options a new owner could take.
He said: ‘It could easily continue as a holiday let, or as a home and holiday let, depending on what people wanted.
‘The owner’s daughter used to live here where when she was a child so we know it would make a great family home, too
‘It’s a unique location and living here would be a unique experience – there aren’t that many lighthouses that come up for sale.’
The peninsula location of the lighthouse is regularly reported as the sunniest place in Wales and it experiences some of the area’s lowest rainfall, too.
The area is also regarded as a premier spot for British wildlife, with colonies of kittiwakes, Manx shearwaters, gannets and puffins nearby, as well as dolphins being regularly spotted in the local waters.
