If you leave a rented flat, chances are you won’t leave much behind.

After all, it’d probably warrant a fee of £50 from your former landlord for binning whatever sweetie wrapper or piece of tape you didn’t take with you.

But when people leave houses to move onto the next, sometimes they forget things – and not so insignificant ones either.

Removals platform, Shift, reached out to its community of movers asking them to submit some of the strangest items they have had to transport when helping customers move house, after an internal survey discovered that more than two thirds (65%) have felt ‘uncomfortable’ when carrying out a job, and a further quarter (26%) said this was due to what they were moving.

What they found was very strange indeed, and the folks moving definitely had some explaining to do. Here were the results:

  1. Coffin full of bones in the basement
  2. Crotchless Mr Blobby outfit
  3. Life-size blow-up doll of Rick Astley wearing his Never Gonna Give You Up outfit
  4. Gold bondage suit
  5. Watermelon sized ball of human hair
  6. Nude painting of Prince Charles
  7. Six milk bottles filled with urine
  8. Three-foot phallic toy
  9. Taxidermy hamster wearing lipstick
  10.  A medieval morning star weapon

After the owners of these odd items were questioned, only some of the movers got any answers.

When delving into the results further, the coffin was apparently full of a customer’s dead dogs that they didn’t want to bury.

The metre-long dildo was part of a customer’s extensive collection of adult toys, and the Rick Astley doll belonged to an avid fan of the pop singer.

Tim Sheppard, Business and Operations Lead at Shift said:

‘We were amazed by how many weird, wacky and wonderful items our Shifters have moved when working on the job, you just never know what someone is hiding behind their front door!

‘Whether it’s moving everyday items like fridges and sofas, or the more bizarre such as an eerie coffin and slightly creepy mannequin, our Shifters are committed to being able to move anything to anywhere, and although this can sometimes make them uncomfortable, they’re committed to getting the job done in a professional manner and never judge!’

Maybe just pop a sheet over your Blobby roleplay items next time someone’s coming over to help you move.
