Routine can easily become boring and, as one of life’s great joys, that goes double when it comes to food.

That’s why one woman’s meal-planning trick has gone down a treat on Facebook, with commenters raving about how they plan to try it themselves.

Looking for a way to make meals a little more spontaneous, she wrote down around 25 different dishes on popsicle sticks and put them in a jar.

She also made a board with the days of the week, and every week she dips into the jar and lets fate decide what she’s eating over the next seven days.

She attaches the popsicle sticks to their alloted days with a clip and voila – a weekly meal plan is sorted.

She posted this hack on the Kmart Home Decor & Hacks Australia Facebook page, writing: ‘Living out of home for the past 2 years and one of the hardest things is deciding what’s for dinner.

‘My partner and I aren’t the type to do a big shop at the start of the week and organise dinners, I work at a supermarket so I just grab what I need everyday after work.

‘I spotted this little hack on my feed and decided to give it go!

‘I have about 25 dinners written down and we pick it out at the start of the week, can’t wait for next week now!’

Commenters on the post sound like they’re on board, with one writing: ‘Brilliant!! Stealing this cool idea! Thanks for sharing,’ with another saying: ‘Great idea!! Totally copying.’

And if you’re wondering what on earth cornflake sushi is, you’re not the only one.

After people expressed an interest on the post, the woman explained: ‘So we smash up cornflakes, coat chicken strips (like a schnitzel), make some rice, cut up an avocado and other sushi items and make a sort of sushi bowl.

‘My partner first introduced it to me years ago by making me a cornflakes chicken burger and it was AMAZING!’
