We don’t want to alarm you, but there’s only 93 days until Christmas.
And it seems there’s a new festive cookbook launching this year with a very special twist.
A Downton Abbey Christmas cookbook is coming out – so you can dine like the Crawley family over the festive period.
The Official Downton Abbey Christmas Cookbook includes recipes that fans see during the sit-down meals on the show.
The book is due out on 21 October 2020 – but is available to preorder now – and comes with 85 traditional British recipes from the historical period – all with Mrs. Patmore-inspired tips.
According to the book’s description, home cooks should expect ‘a collection of traditional British holiday recipes, from appetisers to desserts, that were popular during the Edwardian period.’
Some of these dishes include pheasant soup, baked John Dory and rissoles of salmon, as well as duck with orange, lemon and olives and mutton chops with a crispy herb crust.
There’s also a selection of festive treats, including plum, fig and wartime Christmas puddings and a whole host of drinks such as a classic mulled wine, English punch and a smoking bishop cocktail.
Alongside recipes, the book will tell stories from the series, talk about seasonal traditions from the era and include photographs from important moments in the show.
In other food news, Starbucks has launched a vegan whipped topping for this year’s vegan Pumpkin Spice Latte. To stay true to the original drink, it combines an Starbucks Espresso Roast with the iconic pumpkin base and features notes of nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon.
Asda is also now selling two different types of Lindt chocolate spread – one hazelnut and one dark chocolate. The new products also claim to have 25% more roasted hazelnuts than other spreads – making them a richer option.
