White sheets and fake tan are a match made in hell, and there are tons of hacks out there to try and save our bedding from the dreaded tan.
You can use a powder puff to dry out the wet tan while it percolates, but this isn’t always effective. Or use a tan with no transfer and risk a patchy result.
Or, you could do as this Australian woman does and protect the bed rather than changing your tanning routine.
Sharing on Instagram, the woman shared the product she uses to keep the sheets whiter than white – a sleeping bag liner.
You sleep inside this in your bed, and give it a wash in the morning. Because it’s a dark colour, it doesn’t matter if it gets stained as it’s hard to see marks, and it’s a whole lot cheaper than replacing bed sheets.
This particular iteration was a $3 number from KMart, but similar ones can be bought at camping shops right here in the UK.
Go Outdoors sells a HiGear sleeping bag liner for just £6, or you can get one on Amazon for £8.99.
There are options specifically made for tanning. For example, Skinny Tan has a sheet protector for £11.99 and TannCo has one for £31.99.
The reason for using these over standard sleeping bag liners is that they’re make from silkier materials designed to make sure your tan doesn’t crease or streak.
Realistically, though, as long as you’re going to sleep with it at least touch-dry, you should be fine by morning and ready to shower off the guide colour.
