It’s been a great few weeks for chocolate lovers.
First there was the announcement that Cadbury will be reintroducing orange Twirls, then Toblerone surprised us by revealing it’s bringing out a chocolate orange bar.
Now, Nutella has dropped a bombshell.
The brand has said it’s bringing out a new richer spread which contains more cocoa. The new spread, which goes by the name of ‘Nutella +Cocoa,’ will contain double the amount of cocoa as the original – giving it a more intense flavour.
In fact, the cocoa content for the new product is 15%, compared to just 7.4% in classic Nutella.
It’s set to land in Tesco stores from 2 September and most other retailers shortly after. It will also cost the same as a classic jar of Nutella spread – so will retail for £2.89 per 350g jar.
James Stewart, marketing director for Nutella, Ferrero UK & Ireland, said: ‘Our new Nutella +Cocoa is the perfect addition to the breakfast table for those looking for a richer chocolate and hazelnut spread.
‘Whether you’re topping overnight oats, or spreading over banana bread, Nutella +Cocoa is sure to impress. We can’t wait to hear what our fans think of the new addition to the Nutella family.’
Like original Nutella, the recommended portion for the new variety is a 15g heaped teaspoon (about 80Kcals), but we’re not judging if you decide to go in for seconds or thirds – you’re only human, after all.
Elsewhere in the world of chocolate, a recipe for ‘no bake’ choccy cake has been revealed as well as a hack for getting chocolate chip cookies with deliciously gooey centres.
Sweet tooths will also be able to get Lotus biscuits filled with Biscoff spread very soon, as well as McVitie’s Digestives in gingerbread and Christmas pudding flavours.
