London flat that looks like a ‘jail cell’ with toilet under the bed has renters shocked

Property prices in the capital can be interesting, to say the least – mostly because of what you get for your hard-earned cash (which, often, isn’t much).

Just the other day, we shared news of a £125,000 studio flat which had house-buyers baffled, due to its unusual floor plan, where the bed hovers over the stairs.

Or, if you don’t mind a squeeze, there’s also a skinny home up for grabs in North Wales at £72,000 – the property is just 7ft wide.

But back to London.

A studio flat in Camden was recently shared on Twitter and it has people shocked, for two reasons: the unusual floor plan and the eye-watering price for said arrangement.

For £754 per month, you can now rent a small home where you barely have to stretch to use the various utilities.

You see, the kitchenette (which includes a washing machine) is right underneath the loft bed, but so is the toilet – the spaces are separated by a thin wall.

Take a few steps forward and you’ll reach the shower, which is right next to the two-seater sofa.

Another step, and you’ve got the chest of drawers and a wardrobe, which are a short reach from the front door and the kitchenette, bed, toilet… you get our drift.

The property has been listed on Zoopla by Miki Property and has been likened to a ‘jail cell’.

‘This must be some kind of human rights violation’, tweeted one person, along with photos of the flat.

‘Some prisons are more accommodating than this… and £754 cheaper,’ another person added.

Someone else wrote: ‘Imagine bringing a girl back, asking them to climb up onto the top bunk and ignore the washing machine rattling away, and afterwards climb down and clean themselves up in the kitchen underneath. How degrading.’

Another person wrote: ‘I’m sorry do that say £754? For a jail cell? They need to lower that to £200. And that’s being generous.’ [sic]

The flat is actually a tad more expensive, as Zoopla estimates it at £832 with bills included.

But not everyone disliked the home, which has large French windows that add a nice touch.

‘I would definitely live here, tweeted someone who added, ‘I’m confused why people are making fun of this.’

Someone else said: ‘It’s not the size that’s bothering me, it’s the price. I’m lazy as hell so this would be perfect for me I could finally lay down and still get stuff done at the same time.’

Others weren’t quite sure what to think.

One person tweeted: ‘I’ve opened and swiped through all pictures repeatedly trying to understand the arrangement and price justification, and you know what? I really can’t come up with anything.

‘So, I’m just going to like this, and keep being confused.’

To which someone else replied with what may be the best tweet of them all: ‘London, innit’.
