Tired of new-builds and swanky pads? Then you’ll love this abandoned home.
If you buy Red Dress Manor, which can be found on a former dairy farm in the Welsh countryside, you don’t just get four walls and a roof, but also remnants of previous owners’ lives.
Inside the dilapidated £700,000 home, you’ll find memories in the form of faded black and white photos, hand-written love letters and even a red satin gown, believed to be a bridesmaid outfit that belonged to the former owner.
You’ll have a big clean-up job on your hands though.
The grade II listed house, which was been empty for the past 40 years, comes complete with broken furniture, ripped 50s wallpaper, dusty rugs and a fair few broken windows (pretty much all of them, really).
But there’s plenty of space and charm, with six bedrooms, a cellar, a barn and a 1930s fireplace.
Officially known as Calcott Hall estate, you will get 2.3 acres of land to play with near the small village of Llanymynech, Powys.
If you’re up to the challenge, and have the funds, the home could be an excellent renovation project.
However, it’s worth noting that it is extremely rundown with holes in the roof and very unstable floors so you could end up spending a lot on refurbishing it.
There’s also a small chance that you’ll get an extra tenant when you move in – in the form of the ghost of Ellen Jones, the last owner, according to records.
Rumour has it Ellen died in the house and that her spirit lives on.
Paranormal inspectors have even visited the home over the years.
So don’t be surprised if she kicks up a fuss when you start moving her belongings…
Red Dress Manor, which was built in 1725, is now officially up for grabs with Roger Parry and Partners.
