Two adorable twins have been doing their bit during lockdown, to raise money for charity.
Last week, toddlers Isla-Rose and Lily-Mae walked a mile a day in different costumes, to raise money for Barnardo’s and the NHS.
The duo have been taking part in The Big Toddle challenge by Barnardo’s – a short sponsored walk which helps raise money for the UK’s most vulnerable children.
Of course, every day brought with it a new outfit. During the week, the twins sported matching Wonder Woman costumes, safari-inspired onesies, princess tutus and more.
The little ones were accompanied on their daily strolls around Cheltenham by their key worker parents Emma and Rob Austin-Goodall – who are also volunteering in their community, during the pandemic.
Emma, a teacher, said: ‘I needed a new “project” something to aim for. I saw The Big Toddle online, to raise money for Barnado’s and I thought… why not?
‘I like a challenge, so thought a mile a day for five days and in fancy dress.
‘I also wanted to do our bit for the NHS, many of my friends have been involved and I have been listening to them.’
Emma also explained that one of the twins has possible hypermobilty, so the daily walks could help to strengthen her muscles.
She added: ‘They love their outfits and I am so proud of how they have taken to walking for a good distance.’
The couple have been amazed by the generosity of friends and family. So far, £400 has been raised from the sponsored walks.
Emma added: ‘I posted about our challenge on Facebook, expecting to raise around £50 maybe but we are on track for £400 now and would love to raise more.
‘Not only are we helping two very wonderful organisations, it has also helped with our own mental health too.
‘It has also been so lovely making so many smiles as we walk along on our merry little way.’
