Some people object to bubble and squeak or hash browns on a breakfast. Others can’t understand the appeal of black pudding. And then, there’s this woman, who thinks it’s okay and normal to put peas on her full English.

A picture of an otherwise nice-looking fry-up was posted to the popular Rate My Plate page on Twitter and Facebook under the name Jessica M.

Uproar ensued, with hundreds of commenters wading in to say how disgusted they were with the green addition Jessica M had placed on the plate.

Along with sausages, hash browns, baked beans, eggs, bacon, and toast on the side is a big pile of peas, which one person called a ‘criminal offence’.

Rate My Plate’s tweet has racked up over 1,000 likes, with commenters saying things such as: ‘Peas on a breakfast commands a 10 year sentence in a hard labour camp and a further 2 years for aggravating my OCD.’

Another replied: ‘Peas and beans on the same plate? For Breakfast? You should be on a register for this.’

It wasn’t all negativity with a few bold people putting their head above the parapet to show support. One said: ‘I’m intrigued’ and another commented: ‘Peas! I love that there are peas.’

Pea connoisseurs Bird’s Eye even replied, saying: ‘We admit that peas in an English breakfast is a bit rogue, but we also admire the attempt at making it healthy. Thoughts?’

Granted adding a bit of green to the plate is a noble effort, but surely there are far more suitable vegetable. Baked beans count as one of your five-a-day (albeit they’re already on there) and mushrooms and tomatoes are common on a full English.

Peas on a breakfast has divided Rate My Plate fans. The question now is what do you think?
