Ready to be deeply envious?
Alison Bellamy, 49, is the lucky winner of a six-bedroom farmhouse worth £650,000 – that she landed for just £2 by buying a raffle ticket.
The West Mercia Police worker’s name was picked out of a hat this afternoon, giving Alison not just the massive Grade-II listed mansion in Loppington, Shrophire, but all the furnishings inside.
Oh, and three acres of land, an outdoor hot tub, gym equipment, and a sit-on lawnmower. No biggie.
The house, called Grafton Farm, was put up for raffle by previous owners Nigel and Jane Chaloner, who decided to raffle away the home rather than selling it after wanting to downsize ahead of their retirement.
The couple, who have raised their family and fostered 22 children at the huge home over the last 18 years, charged just £2 a ticket, with 10% of the sales going to the Severn Hospice.
They ended up raising more than £120,000 for the hospice, which cares for people with incurable illnesses.
When told over the phone that she had won the home, Alison said: ‘You’re kidding.
I can’t speak, oh my god. I am speechless.
‘Who knows if I will move in at the moment. I forgot I even entered.
‘I am working today. I am sat at my desk currently. You may hear a few cheers and claps in the background.’
So we’re guessing she’s quite pleased.
At the draw, which took place in the gardens of the lavish home, former owner Jane said: ‘This will mean the world to a lot of people and the hospice.
‘Everyone has been so gracious and supported each other. This is all about you and everyone that has made this happen.
‘So many have experienced loss and difficulties. There have been a lot of people that have deserved this.
‘This is a life-changing experience for Alison Bellamy and it will make a difference to so many people. This will mean so much to Severn Hospice.
‘In recent years Severn Hospice has been there for our friends and family at the worst moments in their lives.’
Lovely. Shall we have a look at the house Alison’s lucky enough to have won and all feel very jealous? Let’s.
