If you’re a fan of making your home smell nice with wax melts, then you’ll know the difficulty of changing to a new one.
Do it when the wax is still melted and you just have a very hot liquid that goes everywhere but leave it to cool and try it the next time you use it, the wax will be stuck.
You can leave it to heat up slightly and scrape it out but it can still end up being a bit of a mess, especially if you forget about it and it melts again.
But one woman has a great solution to make it easier to just pop the used wax out and throw it in the bin so you can add a fresh melt.
Posting on the Hinch Army Cleaning Tips group, the woman explained how using a ribbon can help.
She explained: ‘Simple way to remove wax from a warmer: put a ribbon partially in it while it is still melted.
‘When it cools & hardens, pops right out.’
She added a picture showing the ribbon dipped in the wax but the other end hanging over the side of the burner so you can lift it and pull the whole melt out in one go.
Some people added that you can pull the ribbon out of the melt over the bin so you can reuse it a few times.
Other people loved the idea and said that they’d had a few accidents with their burners so this would be much safer.
One person tagged her friend and said ‘Instead of a knife blade.’
Her friend replied: ‘Oh my God! What an amazing idea!! How many trips to A&E would that have saved.’
‘Great idea instead of using boiling water to rinse it out lol,’ another added.
Others said they preferred just leaving it to melt a little or using cotton balls to soak it up – but this idea might work better for some people.
