A heartwarming video captured the special moment when an ecstatic dog was reunited with his owner after spending 56 days apart in quarantine.
Jessica Cristofolini, 24, from Mezzocorona, Italy, was able to finally visit her boyfriend Fabrizio Bottamedi, after the country eased lockdown restrictions on 4 May.
Fabrizio’s dog Aly, 8, adores Jessica and has clearly missed her a lot in this enforced time apart. Aly couldn’t contain her excitement as she saw Jessica entering the gate after such a long time without seeing her.
For a whole minute, Aly kept leaping and trying to kiss Jessica – until Jessica took off her facemask so she could returned the affection to the excitable pup.
Italy’s lockdown came into effect on 10 March, but on Sunday, they moved into ‘phase two’ – allowing people more freedom to move around.
Bars and restaurants can now resume takeaway services, and buildings sites and factories were also allowed to resume production.
People were allowed to visit their relatives, although not their friends, and only within the region where they live.
Luckily for Jessica and Aly, these new rules mean they can wait out the rest of the pandemic together – which will make the whole ordeal slightly less painful for them both.
