This year, the Early May Bank Holiday has been moved to today, Friday 8 May, to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day.

The plans were made before anyone could’ve predicted the impact of coronavirus – with the long weekend meant to be spent celebrating the anniversary of the end of World War II with pubs open later and street parties among other celebrations.

Regardless of these plans having to change, will supermarkets still be open for you to stock up on supplies for an At-Home VE Day celebration?

Read on for Tesco’s opening hours this bank holiday…

Tesco bank holiday opening hours

Tesco is operating with its usual hours over the bank holiday weekend.

This means that Superstores, Express outlets and Metro stores will open at either 6am or 7am and will close at either 10pm or 11pm, depending on your local branch.

You can double check using the online Tesco store finder.

It’s worth remembering that if you are working for the NHS, you can cut to the front of the queues with the appropriate ID.

If you’re going to Tesco, don’t forget to stock up on your favourite tipple for the Nation’s Toast to the Heroes at 3pm.
