Eight weeks is a long time to keep children entertained at home.

But of course anything Disney-related is likely to go down a treat.

The good news is that party entertainment company Princess & Me Parties has come up with a brilliant solution for helping children (and parents) in quarantine.

The company – based in southern California – has a selection of Disney princesses who are available for video chats and Zoom calls.

These princess playtime calls last around 45 minutes, cost $10 (£8.50) per household and can be enjoyed anywhere in the world.

Each session is designed to keep little ones fully engaged – be it through storytelling, colouring in, Q&As, dancing, games and more.

The company also offers personalised pre-recorded messages for kids, which cost $20 (around £16.40). These bespoke recordings include a customised message and some traditional Disney-style singing.

Founder Ali Williams told Refinery29: ‘Interaction, connection, making the kid feel special is the basis of my company.

‘Performers all know how to connect with kids by interacting. They know that it may seem silly for an adult to high-five at a screen or blow a kiss through the magic mirror, but it’s a huge deal for a kid.’

Parents are even asked to use their child’s name when signing up for the Zoom session, so the princesses can make kids feel more included.

Usually, Princess & Me Parties employees would attend birthday parties and fetes in person but, following the coronavirus pandemic, the business was faced with a wave of cancellations.

Instead Ali adapted to the situation and decided to move her offering online with video call parties.

All the princesses are performers Ali has met through the theme park circuit as characters-for-hire.
