Social lives, who needs them?
With a global pandemic, getting dressed up and going out is a memory of yesteryear.
With most of us socially distancing and isolating due to coronavirus, many of us are missing going out.
So supermarket runs, taking the dog out for a walk and our daily runs have become occasions to dress up to the max.
Over in Australia the grand event of people’s days is taking the bins out and they’re doing it in serious style.
Facebook group Bin Isolation Outing has begun to document sightings of people wearing their most extra, most dapper and just plain right bizarre costumes while getting rid of their garbage.
And it makes for some hilarious pictures.
Some have gone full glam, sporting high heels, with their hair and makeup done.
One of the group members Laura Russell, who’s celebrating her 14th anniversary with her husband, even wore her wedding dress during the everyday chore.
Similarly, Reade Scmidt and his partner also suited up to take the bins out on their anniversary.
We caught up with group admin Danielle Askew, who tells us the mini community is just a bit of fun to encourage everyone to get dressed and have a laugh.
She tells Metro.co.uk: ‘My friend posted a meme on Facebook about being excited it’s bin night so gets to go out.
‘I dared her to dress up. I made the page so all my friends could join in and dress up too.’
Now the Bin Isolation Outing group has more than 400,000 members, with different members posting their outfit every day.
Danielle adds: ‘I’m blown away at how it took off, all over the country and the world. It is something to do in a chaotic world that we are in at the moment. A reason to dress up, have a smile and a laugh.’
The new pastime has caught the attention of others around the world and people from different countries often offer their take on the trend.
