Toilet paper has become a precious commodity over the past month.
With supermarket shelves looking worryingly bare, we’ve all been doing our best to make our loo roll last longer.
But it seems a thrifty mum is already one step ahead of the rest of us, as she has shared a simple hack for making her toilet roll last longer with her kids.
Revealing the method on Facebook, her technique involves flattening the toilet roll before it is put into the holder.
This flattened shape helps to prevent the toilet paper from spinning too quickly as people reach for it – resulting in less paper being used.
She wrote: ‘Kids home from school? Going through toilet paper faster than usual?
‘Try squashing the roll – so it doesn’t spin so quickly and then not as much will be pulled off.’
The nifty trick will not only work in the current coronavirus crisis, but will also help save money in the long term, too.
It’s safe to say many of her followers were blown away by the simplicity of the savvy hack.
One commented: ‘Mind blowing!! I’m definitely trying this – for me!’
Another excitable follower said: ‘I’ve been doing this for a number of years. It works – for me too, because I also know I’m likely to use too much.’
While someone else added: ‘I had to do that. My kids would just pull it until it stops.’
Another clever mum has shared a DIY solution for those caught short, which involves making your own toilet paper out of microfibre cloths.
In other loo roll-reated news, a man has updated his Tinder profile with pictures of himself surrounded by towers of toilet paper, in the hope of getting a date during the coronavirus lockdown.
