We’ve all come across those five-minute food ideas and quick snack hacks.
But since being under lockdown, we have ample time to try all the cooking and baking tricks we’ve seen floating around.
One that’s endured over the years is mug cakes.
There are different variations of these quick recipes that take a mere five minutes to make.
With the current pandemic where resources are scarce, the Oreo mug cake is the perfect sweet treat to lift our spirits (or to add to our never-ending snack stockpile).
For this snappy dessert, all you need are two essential ingredients – Oreos and milk of choice.
Start by grabbing some Oreos (you can choose however many you want) but have a minimum of 3 at least.
The smaller Oreo pack which come in sixes may be a good amount for one large mug.
Put them into your chosen mug and add half a cup of milk.
Begin to crush them with a fork until it turns gooey. At this point, it will look like dirt and be unappetising but just wait a few minutes.
Once it’s mashed up, place it into the microwave for 75 seconds.
And voila you have a chocolate lava cake.
You can, of course, add your own toppings like whipped cream or ice cream.
The old recipe has resurfaced and is once again gaining popularity for its simpleness.
It was recently shared by TikTok where all sorts of culinary quarantine delights are currently floating around.
Of course, you can even have more ingredients in the two-step recipe including cake batter.
This will make it a bit more fluffy and cake-like.
Whatever you choose, it’s certainly an easy way to get a warm snack in when you’re sick of biscuits and crisps.
And all under a few minutes too.
