We’re a nation that loves cuppas, but with many shops having empty shelves and some of us unable to leave the house for weeks on end, there may be the fear that we won’t have enough milk for them.
This nifty little trick shared on Facebook should put paid to those fears, though, and you don’t even need any special utensils.
Danielle Chapman shared the tip on Facebook this week, and has had a massive response from people grateful for her ingenious thinking.
Rather than trying your best to get through a whole bottle before it goes sour, simply put your milk into ice cube trays, popping out a cube into your tea or coffee as and when you need.
Danielle said in her post: ”Freeze milk in ice cube trays, one is enough for a cup of tea or coffee.
‘So you don’t have to defrost a full bottle of milk which may go to waste – this can save money as well as not having to go out so often to get fresh milk.’
If you’re in one of the vulnerable groups, you may not be able to leave the house for twelve weeks. And, while you can have groceries delivered to your home, it’s not going to be as easy as nipping out to the corner shop for a new pint of milk as you would have before.
This way, a bottle of milk which would have lasted for around seven days can be used for as long as it takes you to finish it.
Danielle’s tip has since gone viral on social media, with over 39,000 shares on Facebook and plenty of comments.
Some have called the tip ‘genius’ and ‘brilliant’.
It appears that people are calling out for hacks to make their food last longer, and another tip that involves putting just a few grains of salt into a bottle of milk has also been doing the rounds.
The salt allegedly draws out the water molecules from the milk, which in turn halts most of the bacterial growth and gets you longer from the bottle.
